We are here!

I am happy to say that Ben, the boys and I are in Niteroi! Unfortunately, our teammates aren’t here with us yet, but we trust in God and know that they will be here soon! These past 2 weeks have been crazy between finding a place, getting all the paper work for it done, moving in, taking care of the boys…wow! But is also has been very encouraging to see God’s amazing hands at work. There is a couple from the church in Rio, Zeca and Gladis, that has been truly a blessing in our lives! They have done for us more than anyone can ask for. We are very thankful for their help and friendship!

The boys are doing well! jonah has found a new passion: fresh squeezed orange juice. And Daniel, well, I think he will get used to the beach life pretty fast!!! Seriously, we couldn’t have asked for better children! What a blessing!

We hope that many of you will come visit us and God’s work here in Niteroi!

Great Commission!

Today is a day to remember; I’m finally blogging!!!!

As I was doing my study today I came across this. It’s just a reminder that our God is good and He is always working!

” Let us remind ourselves that the Great Commission was never qualified by clauses calling for advance only if  funds were plentiful and no hardship or self-denial involved. On the contrary, we are told to expect tribulation and even persecution, but with it victory in Christ…It’s ours to show, in the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ, and in personal communion with Him, a joy unspeakable and full of glory that cannot be affected by outside circumstances”.    by John Stam

Learning is Fun!

During this internship time with our team we are learning so much together. We have had classes in team missions and urban evangelism along with our continuing Portuguese classes. Although the subject matter is very important one of the best things I have learned from these classes together is our team’s willingness to laugh and have fun. For example: Our teachers were late coming back to class from lunch so it was suggested that we all hide under the table. While this idea might be received with a less than an enthusiastic response from some groups, that was not the case with this team. Before it could be given a second thought we were all under the table waiting for what the teachers reaction would be. A very strange experience but a whole lot of laughs. It’s great to know that this team is willing to play as hard as it works. Who knows maybe we will grow up some day, just hope it is no time soon.  :-)

Roberts in big-D

We are now living in Dallas and writing a family blog. Two first for the Roberts. We are adjusting well to living in the big city, we will have to see how this blogging thing goes. Living and working in close proximity with our team has been great. Daniel loves having all our “friends” real close. He has transitioned into his new school so well its amazing! Praise God. Jonah is well……………Jonah, busy as ever and making as many messes as he can get himself into. Juliana and I have been busy with the daily team internship activities. It has been such a blessing to get to go to work with my beautiful wife. She amazes me how she balances all the assignments with being a mom to our boys and the rest of the team, taking care of others comes so naturally to her. Did I mention she is also beautiful? As for me I’m doing o.k, don’t get lost as much on my way to the store anymore, but I still don’t ask for directions. Some day I’ll learn.
