While in Canadian Zane and I had the opportunity to put together a VBS for the church. The VBS taught the children about God’s Power through the Book of Daniel. We were very excited to teach the children about God and we look forward to the day when we will be teaching the children of Niteroi about God. Enjoy the short video!!!

This evening April and I decided to go for a little walk around the city of Canadian, a city which somehow managed to be positioned on one of the only hills in the Texas panhandle. As we were discussing our plans for the evening we heard a knock at the door and knew right away that we would not be walking by ourselves this evening. I opened the door and

before I could get the words, “Hey Kiddo’s” out of my mouth, 2 kids were running by me screaming, “MAX!!!” and Max made a mad dash for the bedroom hoping to escape…but he was not quick enough.
After we moved into our house, we met a couple of the neighborhood kids who took a liking to us (or to Max) right away and have since been over to visit about 6 times (yes, we’ve only been in Canadian for about 48 hours). I figured a walk wouldn’t hurt us this evening, and maybe it would drain a little bit of the energy out of Max, a possibly even the kiddos. Turning to April I said, “Do
you know where Max’s leash is,” to which Preston replied, “Here it is!” holding the red leash high above his head. Well good, at least we solved that mystery.
Upon entering the back yard and heading down the alley Max was greeted by a great big white pit bull gnawing at the fence, and I’m sad to say, my tough, mean guard dog couldn’t get away fast enough, if not for his leash, we would still be out looking for him. We scurried away from the angry dog and headed down Main Street. Why a city would have chosen to build their Main street on a 45 degree angle on the only hill located within 200 miles I’ll never know, but we drudged on up the hill following behind Haley who was being drug by Max. As Preston was telling us how he had been stuck in the Library elevator that morning I heard Haley yell, “Walter!” and I looked up only to see a cocker spaniel & lion mixed dog walking lazily
across Main street to greet us. I said to her, “How do you know his name is Walter,” ” ’cause that’s what it says on his collar.” I guess I should have known that between Walter telling her his name or her reading it on his collar, the latter was by far the most likely.
So Walter came up and I bent down to read his collar, and it was true, his name was Walter and it looked like he lived on Cherokee street…”Where’s Cherokee street?” I wondered aloud, “Walter lives by the skate park!” answered Haley, so another mystery solved for the night- where Cherokee street is and where Walter lives. Its turning out to be a productive night for me.
So we continued our trip down Main, Walter in the front, trotting along like a self confident
dog who knows exactly where’s he going, Max following behind looking not so confident, but not wanting to miss out on any fun. Haley is pulled along by Max followed by Preston who is stuck in the chasm between Haley and April & I because he can’t decide if he wants to walk with the dogs or talk with April…our own little parade marching down Main street. I didn’t tell you that Walter is a Cocker Spaniel/Lion mix because somebody has decided to give Walter a burr-cut from his collar down, but from his neck up he still has his full grown hair.
We turned the corner at 4th street and finished up the homestretch to end up sitting on the porch and drinking sweet tea while Preston showed us that you could make mud with the proper ingredients, which conveniently we had present: a little liquid and a little dirt. The
youngest brother Austin came over not wanting to be left out and join in on the front porch fun by showing us how he was Spiderman, proceeding to climb up the wrought iron pillars on our porch…What a day…
