Hello Friends of the Niteroi Mission Team! Thank you for visiting the Gotcher Blog. We arrived in Niteroi, Brazil in November and have been taking language classes and settling in as we prepare to plant a church. We will attempt to keep the blog updated as much as possible and you can also find both Wes and Carrie on Facebook. Again thank you for visiting our blog and please keep the church plant and our family in your prayers. We understand that we will not have any success apart from God's desire for this chuch so please pray that we will speak only his words and that his truth will fall on fertile hearts.

Family Weekend

Everything is still going great here in Dallas!  The crazy part is that we only have about 6 weeks of our training left.  Then we will head to T-Town!  This past weekend we had our team’s “Friends and Family Weekend.”  It was a weekend for us to inform our families about our work and discuss different aspects of living in a foreign country.  We had a wonderful time!  Howard and Jane Norton, long time Brazilian missionaries, were our facilitators.  They did the best job.  It was really fun for us to meet all our teammates families and for our families to meet each other.  We got to have all the Seat family here and all the Gotcher’s, except Austin. (Austin was celebrating his college Graduation in Hawaii with his girlfriend and her family.  I can’t believe he didn’t want to be in Dallas, TX.  He can make it up to us.)  We had lots of wonderful food together, learned a lot about Brazil, Wes and I and all our teammates got to do presentations about different aspects of our work, and we ended the day with a blessing time with our family.  Overall, it was a wonderful weekend.  We took our families to a Ranger’s baseball game on Saturday night.  Wes and I have decided that we are a curse to baseball teams.  When we lived in Kansas City they were about the worst team in Baseball.  Now that we are in Dallas, the Rangers are pretty much holding that same title.  I am not sure how the Redhawks in OKC did the past couple years, but I feel pretty confident I can say, badly.  Hopefully we won’t have the same effect on the futebol teams of Brazil….they take there sport a little more seriously.   We finished the weekend with a visit to Saturn Road Church of Christ and a wonderful Mother’s Day lunch.  I am now starting to think about packing up our apartment and organizing things for our move to Tulsa and then ultimately–Brazil!
